Czech President: "Environmentalism is a religion."

The Czech President, Vaclav Klaus (who also happens to be an economist and free-market proponent, as well as an outspoken critic of the EU) sharply criticized Environmentalism as a religion whose basis is in a political agenda rather than science:
"Environmentalism should belong in the social sciences," much like the idea of communism or other "-isms" such as feminism, Klaus said, adding that "environmentalism is a religion" that seeks to reorganize the world order as well as social behavior and value systems worldwide.

It's good to see that at least some of the world's political leaders aren't working to implement the statist agendas of environmentalist groups.

Meanwhile:

EU leaders reached what is being hailed as a landmark climate change deal, which provides incentives for nations to use nuclear power instead of generating energy with fossil fuels. Now I couldn't personally care less about reducing man-made carbon-dioxide emissions, because I believe their effect on global temperatures and ecosystems is negligible.

However, I am glad to see policies that will encourage the use of nuclear power. The bottom line is that nuclear power is relatively abundant, clean, and inexpensive. The U.S. should follow France's example (one of the few times I'll ever write that about anything) and switch over to nuclear power as its primary means of generating energy.

As an added bonus, this will cut down on the Middle East's revenues from oil exports and in turn, weaken its geopolitical influence in the world, which as long as it remains in the clutches of the ideology of Mohammad, is a good thing.

Predictably, environmentalist groups weren't happy with the deal, as reported by The Times. I don't imagine we could ever do anything that would actually satisfy them. Klaus' appraisal of environmentalism is correct. They are a group of angry, whiny, religious zealots motivated not by their love of nature, but their hatred of industry and production, man's proper means of survival, and ergo their hatred of mankind itself.
